More than a typical Content Delivery Network, Triumph’s CDN has been designed to maximize scale for your Rock infrastructure.

What is a Content Delivery Network?

Content Delivery Networks (CDN) are a collection of servers that are optimized for quickly delivering content to individuals visiting your website. They reduce the load on your Rock server by handling requests for static content like images, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, etc. Not only does this increase the scalability of your servers, it also speeds up the loading of your Rock-powered websites since the CDN servers are typically closer to the individual’s location.

Think of the Triumph CDN has a shield for your Rock server. Only requests for dynamic pages or personalized content will be sent to your Rock server. All requests for static content will be handled, cached, by the CDN.

The Triumph Web Agility plugin enhances the capabilities provided by the Triumph CDN and is recommended to be used together.

Image Optimization

Triumph’s solution goes beyond the typical CDN to provide world-class image optimization, including these features:

  • Image Resize & Crop This allows you to customize the size of the source images on your site. You can choose to square some images as thumbnails for certain pages and show the full image for others.
  • Compression The Triumph CDN can automatically compress your images using best practice algorithms.
  • Auto Format Selection Triumph’s CDN will auto select the best image format for each request by looking at the request’s browser and platform. Some individuals may receive a JPG, and others a WebP file, depending on what’s optimal for their individual request.
  • Image Modification On top of optimization, the Triumph CDN can also apply hundreds of modifications to your images. Some examples of these modifications include: blur, monochrome, duotones, noise reduction, masks, rotation, face detection and many, many more.

Triumph’s Image Optimization feature is based on the popular imgix web service. No extra configuration or knowledge of imgix is needed. To apply optimization to an image on your website, you'll simply use a new Lava filter as shown below.

Below are answers to questions many people have when considering a CDN.

  1. How do I know how much bandwidth I’ll need?

    Knowing how much bandwidth you’ll need is difficult to know up-front. We recommend planning for around 70% of your current bandwidth consumption. Finding out what you use today can be difficult. If hosting in Azure, you can view those metrics by setting up a custom dashboard.

  2. What are optimized images?

    This is the number of master images per month that are optimized. You can have an unlimited number of image transformations of these master images.

  3. Can I subscribe to the Triumph CDN service on a temporary basis?

    The Triumph CDN is designed to be an ongoing subscription service rather than a temporary service to turn off and on. Because Rock plugins cannot be uninstalled and it is powered by a key provided upon the initial subscription, access relies on the honor system that your subscription remains active over time. And once you've seen how happy the CDN will make your server and the lightning fast performance it delivers, you won't remember life without it.
